What is Google AdWords?

When you do a Google Search, you will see results in four areas on the page.  The top, the bottom, the right edge and the “middle”.

The “Middle” is the “Organic” results.  That means the owner have, in most cases, worked very hard to get a top ranking.  These rankings are based on links, popularity and traffic.  The owners of these links and sites did not pay Google to get the ranking.

The other three areas are “Sponsored”.  THIS is Google AdWords.  The owners of those links and sites are paying Google to advertise them.  The cost of an AdWords ad is between 11 cents and $5.00 per click.  So if $1000 people click on a AdWords link, Google gets paid between $110 and $5,000!

How does the owner of the ad get paid?  When you visit their site and buy something.  Obviously, your profit better be higher than the cost of a click, or you will go out of business.
